The EVERY Company (Clara Foods prior to October 2021) is a FoodTech startup developing animal-free proteins using microbial fermentation with genetically modified yeast protein. The company had two commercialized ingredients—animal-free pepsin and EVERY Clearegg—while it debuted its third product, EVERY EggWhite, in March 2022.
The EVERY Company secured a new patent in September 2024 for its precision fermentation-derived ovalbumin. This included variants with performance enhancements from various avian species, covering the use of the protein in a range of food formulations when combined with at least one additional consumable ingredient.
In 2021, the company became the first in the world to develop animal-free pepsin for commercial use. Later in 2021, it unveiled EVERY Clearegg, a co-branded product with BioBrew, and claimed to be the world’s first animal-free egg protein. Clearegg is highly soluble, nearly invisible, and can be used to boost the nutritional profile of products marketed to food producers. In December 2023, the company expanded its egg alternative range with the EVERY Egg, which is claimed to be the world's first liquid egg alternative made from precision fermented proteins.
EVERY’s products are sold globally by Ingredion, a leading ingredient provider serving customers in over 120 countries.
Key customers and partnerships
In May 2023, the company signed a joint development agreement with plant-based frozen meal developer Alpha Foods to collaborate on a new range of innovative alternative meat items. Later, in October 2023, the company partnered with Grupo Nutresa, one of the largest Latin American processed food companies, to drive innovation-based growth in the alternative meat sector.
In May 2024, the company partnered with Unilever subsidiary The Vegetarian Butcher to improve the texture and nutrition of its plant-based meat alternative products using EVERY EggWhite. In June 2024, it partnered with Landish Foods to introduce "FERMY," a range of ready-to-mix protein powders featuring fermentation-derived egg-white protein. Later during the same month, it partnered with Grupo Palacios, the leading Spanish omelet producer, to create hen-less omelets using the EVERY Egg and other new products.
