Commercial Drone Tech refers to the use of drones also referred to as an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) in a variety of commercial applications. Drones are used for a variety of use cases including 1) mapping and surveying, 2) inspection and maintenance, 3) monitoring and surveillance, and 4) data collection and analytics, across a wide range of industries including agriculture, construction, and real estate, public safety and security, oil and gas, and power and energy. 

Drones’ key value proposition for commercial users is that they handle a task previously carried out through conventional methods at only a fraction of the cost of their traditional alternatives. Additionally, drones also provide viable solutions to tasks that are at times dangerous for humans.

The use of drones across a variety of applications and industries has spawned an entire ecosystem of hardware, software, and support services, with several startups either specializing in niche functions or offering end-to-end solutions.
